Isabel Cohen

Isabel Cohen is a self-taught artist that has spent the past twenty-five years doing acrylics on canvas. She is a native Virginian who moved to Omaha over thirty years ago. Her main passion has always been her concern for our natural environment, from making people aware of the pollution of our planet to saving our endangered species. In her volunteer job as President of the Sierra Club for five years in the 1990's, she became increasingly concerned with humankind's role in all of this. Finally burning out after many years of trying to get elected officials, corporate heads and ordinary people to listen and care, she now speaks out through her art. Happily, more people than ever are now increasingly aware of what is really going on in our world.

Abstract is her love and even when you can tell what her subject matter is, there is an abstract feeling throughout most of her paintings. Cohen is a colorist and has many vibrant colors represented in her work. She has won numerous awards and done many commissions for people who enjoy her unique style.
