Richard Cox is a painter and curator with a background in teaching and arts organization. He is presently running the Artists in Residence Program at the South East Wales Art Association and the Arts Council of Wales in the United Kingdom. Cox’s quietly elegant paintings possess a formal austerity reflective of twentieth-century reductivism, but they also encompass classical forms of multicultural imagery, especially relating to Japan and India, where he has worked as a visiting artist in recent years. The artist’s work is held in collections throughout North America, Europe and India, and Cox also prides himself on being an expert on the American muscle car.
*Two-time BC Artist-in-Residence 1999 & 2001.
