Sylvia de Swaan is a nationally known photographer who alternates her time between the United States and Eastern Europe. She has exhibited at Art in General (New York City), Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute (Utica, NY), Cankarjev Dom (Ljubljana, Slovenia), the Houston Center for Photography and the Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.). De Swaan has received grants and fellowships from a variety of foundations and arts institutions, including the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Light Work, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Austrian Ministry of Culture. De Swaan also shot the cover for Paul McCartney’s 1975 album Venus & Mars.
