Bill Hoover creates bright, vivid paintings that evoke dreams and memories. Says the artist: “Mostly I make art so I won’t forget. It’s his hope that science will one day build a device to video tape your dreams, so you can watch them in the morning, and figure them out.” Hoover frequently collaborates with his wife Renee Hoover, also a painter. His influences include Omaha artists Dan Newberry, Jill Rizzo and Wanda Ewing as well as Chicana narrative artist Carmen Lomas Garza. The artist has exhibited his work widely in group and solo shows, and this year, Hoover and his wife collaborated to create the sculpture “The Standard of Living” for the O! Project, sponsored by the Bemis Center, Alegent Health and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
