Internationally acclaimed textile artist John Garrett has been pushing the boundaries of traditional fiber art and textiles for the past 25 years. Currently a full-time studio artist in Albuquerque, NM, Garrett taught for many years at institutions such as Scripps College and UCLA. He continues to conduct workshops on creativity and experimental basketry nationwide. Garrett has exhibited extensively, and the Bemis Center presented his most recent solo show, The Baroque Line, this past summer. Garrett’s work is included in the permanent collections of museums such as the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the High Museum, the American Craft Museum, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Albuquerque Museum. He has also received many grants and awards, including two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
