Ceramist Mark Gordon is intrigued by the quintessential physicality of clay along with its remarkable ability to freeze action and retain any fleeting physical impact or impression. The artist received his BA in Philosophy and Physical Education from Oberlin College in Ohio and an MFA in Studio Art from Ohio State University. He has received grants and awards from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Ragdale Foundation and the Fulbright Commission. Gordon has also exhibited his work internationally in solo and group shows, and his work has been reviewed in publications such Ceramics Monthly, Clay Times and Ceramics Art and Perception. Gordon is currently Associate Professor at Barton College in Wilson, NC.
