Sue Hettmansperger

Biological systems and the interface between nature and culture are consistent themes in Sue Hettmansperger’s work. Her paintings investigate the interdependence of human and botanical, organic and inorganic systems, evoking ecological concepts and concerns. The artist received her BFA and MA degrees from the University of New Mexico. She has exhibited her work widely in solo and group shows and received numerous grants, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Hettmansperger’s work is in many museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
