Denver photographer Anna Newell studied at The Art Institute of Colorado, specializing in editorial photography with an emphasis in photojournalism. She has worked with Future Self, a nonprofit organization that exposes at risk kids to various arts experiences, the International Experimental Cinema Exposition, the Denver School of the Arts, City/Space in San Francisco, 5280 magazine, and more. Newell will be displaying her series of Polaroid images at the “Alternatives” exhibit. Newell has developed a unique style of photography in which she approaches her subjects with curiosity and without assumption. Her work is best described a mixture of eclectic environmental portraiture and raw unaltered documentation. Her goal is to let the personalities of the subjects come through as much as possible.
