Hiroki Morinoue is a native of Holualoa, Hawai'i and holds a BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts. In all of Morinoue's work, there is a compelling sense of place – the ocean shoreline, lava flows and Japanese gardens. He is a patient observer of nature, its rhythms, cycles and pattern. All of these observations become poetic images in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics and prints. Morinoue has shown his work in galleries across the U.S., and his art is also featured in the State Federation for Culture and the Arts Collection, the Contemporary Museum, the Honolulu Academy of Arts Collection and the National Park's Collection.
