In her large-scale paintings and smaller drawings, Susan Knight creates oil and mixed media pieces that contain her personal iconography of figurative images. She builds images with color washes, breaking down and laying bare its reality. Knight has worked as a retail advertiser, commercial artist and curatorial assistant at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, NE. She has also received several juror's awards as well as a Nebraska Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship, and she has been an artist-in-residence at Ragdale (Lake Forest, IL) and the International School of Art (Montecastello di Vibio, Italy). The artist has shown her work in numerous solo shows in venues such as Creighton University, Blue Star Arts Complex (San Antonio, TX) and Rogue Community College (Grants Pass, OR). This past year, Knight also created the sculpture “Light and Lines” for the O! Project, sponsored by the Bemis Center, Alegent Health and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
