Susan McGilvrey creates large-scale, wheel-thrown vessels of brightly colored earthenware, which feature altered shapes and low-fire finishes. Two of her favorite formats include the bilateral amphora and the "tall form," which allows for a large, uninterrupted, all-around compositional space. The artist teaches at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Metropolitan Community College. She received her MFA from Pennsylvania State University and studied as an undergraduate at Luther College in Iowa. She has shown her work widely including in a recent solo show at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for Arts and a group exhibition at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.
