Craig Roper’s witty works often serve as meditations on America’s rural past and industrial present. From images of cows to loading docks, the artist’s work is never as straightforward as it appears and often includes sly commentaries on contemporary society. Roper earned his BFA and MFA from the University of Nebraska, and he has exhibited his work in both solo and group shows internationally, including at MK Expositieruimte, (Rotterdam, the Netherlands), the Museo di Fotografia, (Brescia, Italy) Galerie Ghislave, (Paris, France) and the Sheldon Memorial Gallery (Lincoln, NE). He has also received numerous commissions, including one from A & M Records, Inc. Los Angeles, CA. to design the cover art for Toni Childs' House Of Hope CD. His work has also been reviewed in a variety of publications, including the Paris Review. This past year, the artist created the sculpture “This Is Omaha” for the O! Project, sponsored by the Bemis Center, Alegent Health and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
