Dave Swensen covers a wide spectrum of topics, including death, religious faith and self worth, and his works often touch on his own life struggles, which places his personal life on vulnerable display in the public art world. Swensen was born and raised in the Des Moines, IA area. He studied Graphic Arts at Des Moines Area Community College, and after several years, he began working with other artistic mediums. Swensen has been involved in several local artists activities and online artist opportunities. He has also collaborated with several local non-profit artist groups, the Des Moines Project and the East Village Art Coalition. The artist has exhibited regionally, most recently this past summer in the bemisUNDERGROUND solo show Separation, Depression, Religion and Control.
