David Seiler creates interactive sculptures, some of which are modeled after motoscopes, turn-of-the-century penny arcade “peep show” machines. When viewers crank the handle, photos flip to create the illusion of a moving picture. The Colorado artist also creates large ceramic vessels with slip drawings that depict modern American societal issues, such as rioting, homelessness and long workdays for which employees earn little money. The artist earned his BFA from Metropolitan State College of Denver. He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows and works as an installer and art handler at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, CO.
