For close to three decades, painter Terry Rosenberg has been capturing motion on canvas and paper by working directly from figures in rehearsal or in improvised movement. He integrates the explosive energy of dance with the emotional intensity of Action Painting, creating a new synthesis of light, color and dynamic structure. Rosenberg has collaborated with several leading dance groups, including the American Ballet Theatre, the Dance Theatre of Harlem and the Mark Morris Dance Group, among others. He received his BFA from the University of Miami and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics, Alfred, NY. Rosenberg has exhibited worldwide in solo and group shows at venues such as the BM Contemporary Art Center (Istanbul, Turkey) and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, NY). His work has been reviewed in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Art Papers, and the Chicago Tribune, and he is the subject of several books. This past summer, Rosenberg had three solo shows in Nebraska at El Museo Latino, the Nebraska Arts Council Showcase Gallery (both in Omaha) and the Governor’s Residence in Lincoln.
