Liz Vercruysse’s work is frequently identified by her consistent use of pod-like forms and spikes. Her artistic exploration has lead to other forms that she identifies with the bottle shape. The delicate protective and reproductive parts of botany provide inspiration for her work, and natural forms and textures emerge when Vercruysse applies these botanical influences to her surfaces. The artist has exhibited across the country for over ten years, and her sculptures are featured in public collections regionally. Vercruyusse earned her BA from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and has been a featured artist in Ceramics Monthly magazine. This past year, the artist created the sculpture “O! My Spiky O!” for the O! Project, sponsored by the Bemis Center, Alegent Health and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
